Terms of Service
These terms cover buying and using The Reader’s Codex, and using our websites and free resources. By buying the Codex or using our sites, you agree to them.
Who We Are
The Reader’s Codex is a brand of Lewis Media Group LLC, a Virginia limited liability company (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at [email protected].
The Codex
The Reader’s Codex is a digital template for Notion. After you buy it, you receive a link by email, and opening that link lets you duplicate the Codex into your own Notion workspace. You need a Notion account to use it, and the Codex works on Notion’s free plan.
Notion is a separate service run by Notion Labs, Inc., and its own terms apply to your workspace. The Reader’s Codex is not made, endorsed, or supported by Notion. If Notion changes its product in a way that affects the template, we’ll do our best to help, but we can’t control those changes.
Buying the Codex
The price is shown on our site and at checkout, in US dollars, and any sales tax or VAT is added at checkout. Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the seller of record for your purchase, so its terms also apply to the payment.
All Sales Are Final
The Codex is a digital product delivered as soon as your payment goes through, so all sales are final and we don’t offer refunds. You can see inside before you buy through the free live demo on our homepage.
If you’re in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you usually have 14 days to cancel an online purchase. For digital content, that right ends once delivery begins. By completing your purchase, you ask us to deliver the Codex right away and acknowledge that you lose your right to cancel once it’s delivered.
If something isn’t working, email [email protected] and we’ll help you sort it out. Nothing in these terms takes away any rights you have under consumer law that can’t be waived.
Your License
When you buy the Codex, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it for your own reading. The copy in your workspace is yours to keep and change, and we keep ownership of the template’s design and content.
You Can
- Duplicate the Codex into your own Notion workspace.
- Change anything in your copy: rename pages, rebuild views, delete what you don’t use, and add your own pages.
- Share individual pages from your copy with people you read with, such as a book club meeting page.
You Can’t
- Share your purchase link, or give or sell a copy of the Codex to anyone else.
- Resell, republish, or redistribute the Codex or any part of it, whether free or paid, including on template galleries and marketplaces.
- Use the Codex, its design, or its content to build a product that competes with it.
If you break these terms, your license ends, and you must delete your copy.
What’s Inside the Codex
The Codex comes preloaded with series, books, characters, tropes, and quotes. We compile this information carefully, but it may contain errors, and reading orders and release dates can change after we publish them.
Book titles, covers, character names, and quotes belong to their authors and publishers, and they’re included to help you identify and remember the books you read. The Reader’s Codex is not affiliated with or endorsed by any author, publisher, or Goodreads.
Everything you add to your copy is yours. We can’t see it, and we claim no rights to it.
Free Resources
Our free trackers, reading order guides, Goodreads importer, Field Guide, and live demo are provided as they are. We may change or remove any of them at any time.
Emails
If you join our list or buy the Codex, we’ll send you emails about it. Every email has an unsubscribe link. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
Our Content
Our websites, the Codex, its design, and The Reader’s Codex name and logo belong to Lewis Media Group LLC. You may not copy or reuse them except as these terms allow.
No Warranty
We work hard to make the Codex and our sites useful and accurate, but we provide them as they are, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don’t promise that they’ll be error-free or always available, or that third-party services like Notion will keep working the same way.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data, arising from the Codex or our sites. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the Codex.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA, and any dispute will be heard in the courts of Virginia. If you’re a consumer outside the United States, you keep any right your local law gives you to bring a claim where you live.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and we’ll change the date at the top of this page when we do. The terms in effect when you bought the Codex apply to that purchase.
